Thank you
for visiting our web site. Let me introduce myself. My name is Mark Kilner (the
Racing Syndicate Manager) and I have been successfully syndicating racehorses for just
over seven years now. I think it's only fair to say that I have an outstanding
track record in the business, as the 10 horses that I've purchased to have
run have won 21 races so far and over £100,000 in prize money between
them for my racehorse syndicates.
My record
makes even better reading when you consider that the horses that I buy are all
in the £3000 - £8000 bracket. Furthermore, most of the ones that
I've bought so far, have been other trainer's unwanted cast-offs and maidens
off the Flat, that have been turned into winners under all codes; on the
Flat, on the a/w, over hurdles and fences !
It all
started back in October 1993 when Micky Hammond acquired our very first horse
for only 6,250 guineas. His name was Outset and he has since gone on to
become the most successful horse in Micky's Middleham yard. Outset first
won at Edinburgh in January 1994 and has since won another 4 races over
hurdles and been placed 12 times from only 22 runs. Outset's wins
have included when winning at The Scottish National Meeting at Ayr in 1994 as
5/2 favourite; and landing a nice touch for my racing syndicate members by winning
The Oddbins Handicap Hurdle at the Aintree Grand National Meeting at 7/1 in
1996.
Placed again
at The Aintree Festival in 1997, his two best runs over hurdles were arguably
when placed twice in the £40,000 added Class A Tote Sandown Handicap
Hurdle. He finished a cracking 3rd place (16/1 and £4500 in prize
money) behind Tullymurry Toff and Yahmi in 1997. He then went one better in
1998, when finishing a close 2nd at 10/1 to Buckhouse Boy, this time picking up
£9000 in prize money. In 1999 he finished a great 2nd at 14 / 1 to
Khayrawani at the Aintree Festival, picking up over £4,000.00 in prize
money for his syndicate members.
He also
proved a revelation on the Flat in late 1997 and early 1998 by easily
winning at Redcar at 33/1 (supported at Tote odds of 50/1 by syndicate
members) and then landing the richest ever Flat race staged at Musselburgh racecourse
at the astonishingly generous price of 11/1 ! He then went onto win his
third Flat race on the bounce on March 3lst 1998 at Newcastle, absolutely
bolting up as 3/1 favourite.
Our second
acquisition was a horse called Up In Flames, who also landed all of his
syndicate members a couple of nice little touches when winning at Haydock Park
easily by 4 lengths at an SP of l0/1 (backed by all of my syndicate members
at 16/1, an early price that was freely available with "The Big Three
Bookmakers" all day up to first show). He then went on to win a
£20,000 race at the Epsom Derby Meeting in 1995, ridden that day by
Willie Carson. This great win at 6/1 gave all of the members of the
syndicate in attendance their "15 minutes of fame", as we were interviewed
live on CH4 by Brough Scott. Although not the force of old, he is still
proving to be a good little fun horse for his syndicate, having been placed
many times and been the winner of three races since at Nottingham (12/1),
Wolverhampton (10/1) and Southwell (7/1).
So far then,
every horse that I have bought off another trainer has won and furthermore, my
horse racing syndicates are best known for their long-standing association with each horse.
In total, the ten individual horses bought have now run under 18 separate
syndicate agreements (where the overwhelming majority of members have wanted to
keep the horse under my management). And of all these syndications only 6 out
of the 18 formed are not (yet) winning syndicates.
